Salon du voyages et des vacances 2011 in Martinique

The Tourist office was naturally present at the 13th edition of the “salon voyage et des vacances” held in Martinique at the Palais des congrès of Madiana (Schoelcher) from the 25th thru the 27 of March, 2011.

martiniqueThis tradeshow is a major event, bringing approximately 18000 visitors, professionals, and private individuals, with 88 stands from various islands in the Caribbean.

This year we shared our stand with two hotel establishments, Sonesta (Maho and Great Bay) represented by Miss Lazette Brown, Group Sales Coordinator. Also present was T.O Unlimited - Divi Resort chain represented by Patrick Jaffré, Director.

Excellent contacts were tied with the visitors for 3 principal periods which are:
- The period of Easter and the period of the Dutch carnival
- The long weekend of June 2nd (Ascension)
- Summer holidays (July-August).

Thanks to the hotels present we were able to secure several hotel deals by offering 2 nights, 3 days with breakfast and tax included. Throughout the tradeshow we announced that there was a raffle every evening starting from 6:00pm until 7:00pm.

According to our travel agencies and tour operators, St Martin is the best selling destination. Today it would be impossible to create holiday’s package without including St Martin destination.

We also took the opportunity to meet with our official airline company “Air Caraibes” who specified that the holidays of Easter are already fully booked and that we should receive a wave of visitors from April 18, 2011.
We will multiply more promotion actions on touristical communications products specialized in vacation to encourage regular promotions during the lowest months of the season. (September, October, November).
