Saint-Martin present to the 3rd edition of the CMITE

In light of its promotional activities for the island through the various Caribbean markets, the Tourist office of Saint Martin was naturally present at the 3rd edition of the “CMITE” which was held in Jamaica at the “Iberostar Grand – Rose Hall hotel” from September 20th thru the 22nd 2012 represented by Gregoire DUMEL Local and Regional Market Manager and Ricardo BETHEL, Project Coordinator at the Tourist Office.

Caribbean Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange (CMITE) brings together buyers and suppliers servicing the Caribbean meeting and incentive market.

This year, over a 100 Buyers, representing the USA scheduled appointments and received information about the various destinations / DMC / hotels in order to plan group trips.

Since we cater largely to this market, this year we were present and wanted to make sure Saint Martin benefit from these incentive groups.

Gregoire DUMEL: “All the buyers knew the destination and the product which we offer. They wanted to know more about the destination, plan visits to the island and meet with some property owners (hotels, villas).
Points discussed were:
- Upscale private parties
- Weddings and honeymoons
- Capital of Gastronomy and strong touch of our local cultural dishes
- Variety of land, water and air activities
This extremely encouraging participation will enable our destination to continue its promotional efforts in collaboration with the hotels of Saint Martin and also to keep close cooperation.”

Ricardo BETHEL: “This show was a great opportunity for Saint-Martin to portrait to the buyer that Saint-Martin is open to welcoming groups but also other various niche markets such as wedding, honeymooners, diving groups, golfers and many more. We also exposed the fact that our island is very unique because coming to Saint-Martin permits you to discover the neighboring island that have unique features to offer.
For example; Anguilla for the golfer, Saint-Barths luxury shopping, not forgetting Saba for the amazing diving and Statia for their nice sceneries and sightseeing.
Our objective was to really show that Saint-Martin is really a destination like none other in the Caribbean because everything could be found on the wonderful island “more than elsewhere.”

In conclusion, out of our 20 scheduled appointments were able to book groups as follows:
- 2 for 2012
- 2 for 2013
- 7 for 2014
- 11 for 2015

Some of our major contacts were: Elite Travel and Event, H20 Meeting and Incentive, Subaru American Express, CMP Meeting Services.
