From Janurary 10 to 12 2014, Elsie Marishaw and Aida Weinum from the Saint-Martin Tourism Office participated to the Chicago Adventure and Travel Show and shared a booth with the Radisson Blu Resort, Marina & Spa and a travel agent who was offering special packages to the island for the occasion.
This show welcomes every year around 20 000 visitors and is a great opportunity for Saint-Martin to sit its reputation in the Midwest and increase the number of reservation of the direct and seasonal flight to the island in winter.
Many visitors came to the booth to get some information about the island and many others to say they had already booked their vacation to the Friendly Island!
The number of visitors from the west coats is increasing. The population in that region of the US is used to long trips and the Caribbean is a dream destination for them.
From February 7 to 9, the Saint-Martin Tourist Office was presenting the destination assets during the Los Angeles Adventure and Travel Show who opens its door to more than 33 000 visitors every year.
Sharon Bennet who represents the Orient Bay resorts was sharing the both with the tourist office.
The West coats visitors are more attracted by smaller properties and vacation rentals than the potentials visitors from the rest of the US.
The 12th edition of SOME Tradeshow was held on March 8th, 2014 at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez, Bayamon, Puerto Rico San Juan.
The Saint-Martin Tourism Office was present alongside Guillermo Ramis and Joseph Lopez of Paradigm Associates, recently signed to represent the island in Puerto Rico.
Mercure Hotel and four hotels from Orient Bay, Esmeralda, La Plantation, Palm Court and Alamanda were also present.
SOME and APAV are the two largest associations in Puerto Rico gathering over 90% of travel agencies. Once a year they organize a tradeshow with other islands of the Caribbean to strengthen ties and see the innovations that are available in each destination.
More than 40 companies were present for the job fair hosted by the Collège de Quartier d’Orléans (Junior High School of French Quarter) on the 19th of March.

The 16th edition of the "Salon du Voyage et des Vacances" (Travel & Vacation Tradeshow) was held on March 21st through 23rd at the Palais des Congrès de Madiana in Martinique.
Organized by Open Soft System and the Martinique Tourism Comittee the tradeshow gathered more than 70 booth holders in two buildings and welcomed over 19.000 visitors for the 3 day span.
More and more visitors from South America come to the island with Copa Airline via their Panama hub.
The French Saint-Martin Tourist Office attended ANATO in Colombia from February 26th to 28th.
The 33rd edition of this show that was held in Bogota welcomed over 36 000 consumer and trade visitors. The Saint-Martin Tourist Office shared a booth with the Sint-Maarten Tourist Bureau, the Westin resort and Bobby’s Marina.
A great occasion to showcase the destination to a population who travels more and more.

Saint-Martin Tourism Office participated to the 29th edition of the Seatrade Miami Cruise Convention from March 10th to 13th 2014.
This convention brings together over 900 exhibitors from 123 countries who represent 150 ports.
In 2014, Seatrade’s number of trade visitors increased of + 10% compared to 2013 with a total of 12 000 registrations. Over 300 media covered this major event exclusively dedicated to the cruise industry.
Saint-Martin is an inevitable port of call in the Caribbean.
Seatrade convention was the occasion for the Saint-Martin Tourist Office and the Port of Galisbay to meet with navy yards, managing and servicing marinas companies since the Collectivité has given its approval to begin a study on the development of the waterfront in Marigot and its port including the necessary equipments and facilities to accomodate cruise ships.
From March 10th to 14th, The Saint-Martin Tourist Office took part in the media tour organized by Atout France in Scandinavia.
The main objective of this operation was to meet with the press in Copenhaguen - Denmark, in Oslo in Norway and in Stockholm in Sweden to create awareness on the destination.
Around 20 journalists discovered the destination and a focus was made on the Thomas Cook/ VING charter flights beginning in November 2014 from Stockholm, Sweden. The tour operator is already proposing packages offers including hotel and airfare on their website.
TUR is the largets tourism fair in Scandinavia.
The Saint-Martin Tourist Office participated to the 31st edition of this show held from March 20th to 24th in Gothenburg in Sweden. The tourism entities of the both side of the island shared a booth with Star Clippers and the Westin Resort & Spa.
During the show, The Saint-Martin Tourist Office met once again with the tour operator Thomas Cook/ Ving who will be launching their charter flight every 2 weeks this winter from Stockholm with more than 3000 seats available. This flight is expected to be successful since Saint-Martin has a lot to offer and is the perfect strating point to discover the surrounding island.
The concept of the roadshow organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organization Chapter in France is simple and efficient : 3 days, 3 cities.
The workshops are held in the evening and gives the opportunity to the various destinations (Guadeloupe, Jamaïca, Cayman Islands,…), hotels (AM Resort, Sandals) and airline companies (Air France, XL Airways) to meet with other tourism professionnals and present to them the destination.
Travel agents, tours operators and media Paris, Lyon and Nice met with the Saint-Martin Tourist Office on March 25th, 26th & 27th 2014 to discuss the many assets and activities the island has to offer : diving, luxury products, yatching, MICE.
France is the 5th largest market in the tourism industry in terms of travels and the second in Europe after Germany for long term vacations.
Despite a drop in travels to the Caribbean, the region remains a popular destination for long holidays and represents 31,2% of the total departures in 2013. The French Caribbean are the French people first choice followed by the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Venezuela, Bahamas, Jamaica and St-Lucia (source Atout France).
The Florida Sales Blitz was held from March 30 - April 4 2014 by 2 Saint-Martin Tourism Office representatives: Suzanne Scantlebery and Cyndi Miller Aird

The objective of this trip was to reconnect with many of the main tour operators located in the cities of Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Miami.
A total of 13 tour operators and travel agents were visited.
